Johnny Herd; visiting a friend, and Tilly?
The Shrimpers former left back Johnny Herd was one of five players released by Blues boss Paul Sturrock at the end of last season.
And with ex-manager Steve Tilson now on charge of relegated Lincoln City who are looking for players to give them a chance of escaping the Blue Square Premier at the first attempt any former, or even present Shrimper, is under suspicion of a move to Sincil Bank.
However, after the failure of the quiet and forgiving striker Scott spencer, also now looking for another club, Tills may wish to get as far away as possible from south-east Essex!
Apparantly visiting a friend at the University of Lincoln, that has not stopped the Imps message boards massaging the rumour mill, next up Darryl Flahaven and Mark Bentley, and, who knows, there could be legs in this one, as it was only last May that Tilly took advantage of a clause in his contract that activated an option to keep Herd a Shrimper for another season.
Then again, that might have been because Tilly, with no money and a transfer embargo, had to keep as many players he could at Roots Hall to make sure he had a team to start 2010/11, ask Luggy!
As ever, we will see, and somehow we don't see the 21-year-old defender being what Tilson believes he needs to get out of the Blue square Premier, but whatever the future holds for Johnny, the best of luck from S24.
