Johnny Herd; those throws will be back!
Young Johnny Herd, still only 20, saw off the England under-19 talent of the Wolves full back Scott Malone towards the end of the season, and thanks to a clause in his present contract he will be staying at Roots Hall for at least another season and add to the 22 games he played this term.
A product of the excellent Shrimpers youth system let's hope the Moose follows him soon enough.
It's taken a while but Tilly might stop signing Wolves left backs!
Blues boss Steve Tilson told www.southendunited.co.uk: "Johnny has progressed since coming back in the side and I want to keep him on for next year. It's good to get that one sorted nice and early and we can now concentrate on renewing the other players we want to keep hold of."
And want to stay Tilly, but good news.
