Sampson: 'Looking forward to the next few weeks ahead!'

As reported earlier Bolton Wanderers forward Jack Sampson will be a Shrimper for at least the next month and goes straight into the squad to face Northampton Town in League Two on Saturday afternoon.

Local fansite www.burndenaces.co.uk writes it was part of the condition of signing a new contract at the Reebok Stadium on Wednesday, keeping him with the Premiership club until the summer of 2013, (www.bwfc.co.uk), that he now linked up with Southend for the initial spell that would officially end on a Friday night at Roots Hall against Rotherham United (February 10th).

However, if all parties were to agree, he could remain for the rest of the season!

Still waiting for official confirmation, however, posting on , he said: "Just arrived at #Southend to start my loan move. Looking forward to the next few weeks ahead!"

Seems fairly certain to me!

Though a regular in the Wanderers reserve side Jack has yet to make his senior debut for the club, but the 18-year old Sampson, who has been with the Trotters since turning 13, was selected for England’s under-19 squad for their friendly against Holland last September, and left a good impression by all accounts after coming on as a second half substitute.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle considers the teenager a target man, trouble ahead for Liam Dickinson possibily, and is as good in the air and he can be with the ball at his feet.

Sky Sports earlier believed that Tranmere Rovers, Bradford City, Crewe Alexandra, and Morecambe were all chasing his signature, hardly the Manchester clubs of three years ago but proof he was in demand.

One thing seems for certain, CEO Tara Brady's lottery ticket was obviously a winner a couple of weeks ago, as Roots Hall has been rocking to the signings of Elliot Benyon, Dave Martin and Michael Timlin in the first fortnight of the January transfer window.

Well done to the eight S24 readers who wanted another central striker, all 14.5% of them, but where is Blues boss Paul Sturrock going to fit them all now.........we're only allowed five subs!
