Sturrock: 'Will have conversations with certain players today so they know the situation'
Blues boss Paul Sturrock is in bullish mood after getting three late Christmas presents in forwards Elliot Benyon and Dave Martin and finally this evening making it a hat-trick when Michael Timlin's move from Swindon Town was completed, all in time to face Port Vale on Saturday afternoon at Roots Hall.
Luggy admitted that all these deals involved "small fees".
He also confirmed what many of us knew had to happen at some time, fringe players, and still maybe a senior player in there, will leave the club.
Sturrock told BBC Essex: "We wanted these players. They were our target players. I've got another one or two up my sleeve. But we also want to start moving players on. I will have conversations with certain players today [Thursday] so they know the situation."
Though Bilel doesn't look like he's going to be one of them (see link below) & Mohsni himself told The Echo today: "I'm delighted to stay at Southend."
The canny Scotsman went on to lay down the law on those who knock his teams playing philosophy; don't!
Sturrock said: "The important thing is we get our home form sorted. We're getting some more people to join us who will benefit us offensively. It's the lack of goals that have cost us at home because teams have given us the respect that I think we've merited. Points make prizes regardless of whether we're a silky football team or we churn out results. The key to it is winning games."
Hear, hear to that!
