Echo on Brady exit: 'Financial obligations were not met'

Brady: 'Disappointed'

Three pages of editorial in the Echo, but anything new?

Well, not much; Southend's now former Chief Executive Tara Brady is holding his council other than saying he's "devastated" and does not wish to comment further on the ongoing events.

His eaxct words to www.echo-news.co.uk were: "I’m devastated to have left the football club. As already stated, the plan was to get this club two successive promotions and until a couple of weeks ago I felt we were on target. It’s a shame as a lot of hard work went in to turning things around but I don’t wish to comment further.”

Take that how you want.

The Echo Thursday morning is taking the line it's a 'cash row' saying it 'believed Brady became frustrated after financial obligations were not met which far exceed the £150,000 mentioned so far by Ron Martin'

Now that I do believe.

TB has 200,000 shares nominally worth £200,000.00 in Soccer Stadium PLC, the company in control of Fossetts Farm.

Let's be straight here, Shrimpers supremo Ron Martin has twisted the truth more than once, and his flippant, 'I don't think football was as exciting to him as perhaps he first thought', is typical Martin, as is his attempt to muddy the water with comments about not getting involved in team matters, has Brady other done that?

Why be diplomatic when there's a fight to be had.

www.talksport.co.uk wrote yesterday: "The future of Southend United has been called into question after a boardroom split over finances. The League Two promotion hopefuls are facing a serious challenge just one year after facing a winding up petition for unpaid taxes. Chairman Ron Martin and CEO Tara Brady are in direct conflict, disagreeing on how the club should be run. Brady is credited with transforming the club from relegation strugglers to promotion chasers, but the City businessman has been forced to act after a string of broken promises. The club sits third in the League Two table, just two points off the top, but this latest setback threatens to derail their promotion hopes and leave them in the fourth tier of English football for a third season."

Will Blues boss Paul Sturrock make a statement, not known to like boardroom disruption!

So for all Uncle Ron's bullish talk about the new stadium, the Shrimpers faithful have to be concerned that all the good work of the last year could be going down the pan, I wouldn't like to be a player with a big mortgage at the moment!
