'We thank Tara Brady for his efforts over the past year': Club Statement Released

Tara Brady: Had enough of the job........and Uncle Ron?

The Echo has reported that Tara Brady will be leaving Southend United, having had the story leaked to them it seems.

The Shrimpers Chief Executive did not attend Roots Hall Tuesday evening where the team sunk to a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Swindon Town.

And the paper wrote that Brady has been in confict with the club's ownership, which one presumes has something to do with Shrimpers chairman Ron Martin.

If this proves to be correct it would not surprise anyone who has followed the club over the last few years.

Brady joined the Essex boys in December 2010 and only celebrated a year in the job a couple of months ago where he stated there were many parts of the job he was not enjoying.

In his time at Roots Hall the club's office have been cut by a third and the team on the pitch has been transformed into a promotion fighting outfit.

He did not attend a fans forum last week where he was down to join Blues boss Paul Sturrock.

The club have now released an official statement on www.southendunited.co.uk: "It was agreed between Tara and the Club on Monday of this week that an announcement would be made on 1st February and prior to any releases to the Press. As readers of the Echo will know the matter was leaked to them which is regrettable. However, it is confirmed that Tara Brady has left the Club and we thank him for his efforts over the past year."

A double blow for Southend after the result last night but one that the managers and squad have to overcome, the long away trip to Plymouth Saturday has taken on even more importance as events have unfolded over the last couple of days.
