Tommy Widdrington; Still the Blues No. 2, says club, so it must be true

Southend United have denied any suggestion that assistant boss Tommy Widdrington has left the club after he was failed to be seen at Tuesday evenings 2-0 victory over Cheltenham Town.

A Shrimpers spokesman told www.echo-news.co.uk: "There are no truth in the rumours that Tommy has gone. He was not at the game because of special circumstances."

Let's see if he's at Roots Hall before the Wycombe game, but Uncle Ron has got history, former assistant manager Paul Brush went after last season's 3-0 defeat at Hartlepool after a previous run of poor results.

UPDATE: They fibbed!
