Daniels: Extending stay at Roots Hall

The Shrimpers are set to extend the loan stay of shot stopper Luke Daniels from Premiership West Brom by a further month.

The deal also allows him to feature in Saturday's FA Cup first-round tie at Preston North End.

And Blues boss Paul Sturrock told the Echo:'Glenn Morris is coming back slowly but we don't want to rush him and Luke's done well.'

Luke arrived from West Brom in late October as cover for the injured Glenn Morris and has so far made four appearance which has helped the club to four wins and just one goal conceded.

His initial agreement was due to expire on November 26th but the latest deal with the Baggies means he will now stay at Roots Hall for the majority of the hectic Christmas period.

Daniels' availability for the weekend provides welcome relief for manager Paul Sturrock, who was facing a selection headache this with Morris (thigh) and back-up Daniel Bentley (back) currently on the sidelines.
