Sturrock: New Shrimpers boss

Sturrock: 'Individual errors have cost us dear Saturday'

Blues boss Paul Sturrock was in philosphical mood after he saw his side level twice but then fall behind for a third and final time when the side were probably having their best attacking spell of the game.

Luggy told www.southendunited.co.uk: "We scored two goals at home and I would expect my team not to lose games when we have scored two. Individual errors have cost us dear today, and a few have put their hands up as far as that is concerened. But we can't keep going down the road of losing goals like we are."

Fair point Luggs and as he continues, 'we've now conceded five goals in two games and that will not win you football games', so expect some harsh words and some hard work for the men at the back before the team steps out at Hereford next Saturday.

McIlroy: Looking to bolster his ranks

McIlroy: 'We should not have been bottom of the league'

Meanwhile, Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy was just happy to get a league win under his belt at last and move away from the bottom-of-the-table.

McIlroy said: "It was important that we got the win and hopefully we can build on that. Every game in this division is difficult but we now have Barnet and Bury at home and we will have to see what we can do."

Certainly the former Northern Ireland manager is confident the only way is up.

He continued: "We should not have been bottom of the league because we have been playing well. Oxford away is the only game where we deserved nothing. In our last three games we have been in front and have not won any of them. We put that right here and played some good stuff."
