Soares speaks on leaving Shots: 'I needed a change and Southend is the right club for me'

Louis Sores: 'I think a lot of things are possible for us this year'

The 25-year-old winger had a full game in the 1-1 draw at Salisbury Friday evening and is confident that turning down another season in Hampshire to become a Shrimper was a good move on his part, as well as for the Blues faithful who can expect to see him continue to pop up on both sides of play.

Soares told www.echo-news.co.uk: "Aldershot did offer me a contract to stay but it wasn't right. I needed a change and Southend is the right club for me so I'm delighted to have signed. I do usually play on the right hand side but I can play on the left as well if needed. It's not a problem if I have to swap and I'm very excited about the season getting underway."

Louis played 168 times for the Shots over four years, however he's only got thoughts for Southend now and continuing to gel with his new team mates that are very much a work in progress.

He continued: "I have been pleased with how things have gone but I need to keep on going. It's all about the team and working hard and that is something I will always do but I think a lot of things are possible for us this year. We need to bind together but I don't think that will be problem and I think we could well."
