Phillips: Celebrates goal

Phillips scores at Port Vale, he's now grabbed four since!

Goal machine Mark Phillips is now joint second in the Shrimpers golden boot charts with six with Liam Dickinson, (I've told him penalties shouldn't count'), one behind Ryan Hall who now has seven. (Bilel, 5)

He told the Echo after the game: 'I think we showed we were men out there today and we really had to work hard for the win.'

Fighting talk from the former Brentford skipper who had hardly got out of his own half in previous campaigns.

However, Phillips tweeted later how grateful he was to the support he was receiving from the faithful: 'Thanks to all the people sending me nice messages another massive three points.....plus another goal for me'

Then later a mention to his team mates who really had to battle to win this one over a very good Oxford side.

He said: "Thought today the boys put in a proper shift and showed how hard were working game in game out....well happy with that result."

As we all are, two points clear at the top thanks to Hereford's brave 1-1 draw with the creepies: http://news.bbc.co.uk

Mark even had a word on our loanee shot stopper who kept us in the match during the first half: 'thought @ was quality once again.'

Anyway, the final word on the amazing Phillips scoring achievements this season has to go to @.

He tweeted: '@ marry me....you are amazing, you goal scoring king of kings, ha ha ha ha'

Now you just can't argue with that.
