Sawyer: Commits for another year

Sawyer: 'It’s been so frustrating not being able to play'

Shrimpers midfielder Lee Sawyer returned on Tuesday for the Blues Two's and looked OK for just over an hour after being out for six weeks with a thight strain.

But the former Chelsea trainee accepts he could struggle to make even a subs appearance against Morecambe on Saturday afternoon at Roots Hall with the team doing so well!

Sawyer told www.echo-news.co.uk: “First of all it was just great to be back out there again because it’s been so frustrating not being able to play. I felt quite fit and I do feel like I’m now ready to come back in to the first team. But the team has won their last six games and we already have a very strong bench, so I know I will probably have to wait for my chance. I’ll have to see what the manager decides but I’ll keep working hard and then try and make the most of any opportunity I do get.”

Welcome back Lee, look forward to seeing him back to the form he was showing before his injury, the squad just gets stronger, come on Baz, make it a full set!
