Daniels: Signs on loan

Daniels: 'I think it’s much better for me to go out and get some games'

Shrimpers loanee keeper Luke Daniels is enjoying himself on the Essex coast, and why not, he's not let in a goal in the two games he's played at Barnet and Macclesfield pulling off some decent saves in the process, and the Roots Hall crowd will have their first chance of catching him in action, not too much though, against Oxford United in their top four clash Saturday afternoon.

Daniels told www.echo-news.co.uk: “It’s been going really well at Southend so far and we’ve won both matches, which is great. I’d like to carry on helping what I think is a very good side get good results and then long-term my target is to become a Premier League goalkeeper.”

Daniels has been a Baggie since 2004 but has not made his first team debut knowing he's only third in the Hawthorns shot stopping line-up.

The on-loan Ben Foster from Birmingham City is currently West Brom's No.1 custodian with Martin Fulop as reserve.

Daniels said; “West Brom are very strong in the goalkeeping department so I will just have to wait and see what develops there. I have a year left on my contract with a year’s option on that as well but rather than being in the reserves there I think it’s much better for me to go out and get some games.”

And after the start he's had, we couldn't agree more.
