Brady: 'We feel we have a squad capable of winning the league'

What financial problems?

Shrimpers chief executive Tara Brady insists it's not the money, though maybe it should be.

Brady told www.echo-news.co.uk:“Financially it’s not an issue as we are still around the playing budget that I committed to but we know the squad is too big. It’s too large for a number of practical reasons including training sessions and ideally a typical squad should be between 20 and 22 players."

Don't worry lads, you're all going to get paid, but those five a side's are going to be tough!

And with Blues boss Paul Sturrock being allowed to bring in six summer signings, Brady is confident that's more than enough to see the team challenging for a top three place and a return to the third tier of League football.

Brady concluded: “We feel we have a squad capable of winning the league and not just getting promoted. The squad is both balanced and strong and we have competition for places so the football product at the club is in good shape. We just hope people will buy in to that now with the new season about to start.”

Ex-Captain Craig Easton must be wondering what the fuss was all about to give the dosh he was looking for!
