Big Baz takes 'next step' to being back: 'See how his body reacts to the increased work-load'

Corr: Back injury

Hurrah! Big Baz is back in training!

Shrimpers striker and last season's top scorer Barry Corr is back in training with the club.

The 21-goal man for the previous season has seen his team go top of the table without him due to a long-term knee injury, and replacement Liam Dickinson top the scoring charts with six, though four of those have been spot-kicks.

But according to Blues boss Paul Sturrock, the tall hitman is on his way back.

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: “It was fantastic to see Barry back out there in full training with everyone else again yesterday. We will now have to wait and see how his body reacts to the increased work-load before we decide what to do next with him. How he feels will dictate the next step but it’s brilliant news for us that he’s training again and also for himself as well, because it must have been a very frustrating time for him.”

Baz hasn't been seen since failing to play in the final match of the previous campaign at Wycombe Wanderers which is coming up for seven months now!

In that time Dicko, Bomber, Bilel, Ryan and, er, Mark Phillips, have been sharing the goal scoring responsibility between them, even ledft back Peter Gilbert has a couple taking up Corr's old position at corners!

It will be one or two reserve outings first for Barry, not sure when the next game is, as long as he doesn't break down again, we have been here before.

If all goes well though it would be like a new signing and one of the reasons Luggy didn't go through with the Boli saga, who S24 have heard is sniffing around the creepies, they could certainly afford him, but personally I would have waited for our favourite Irishman on taking a gamble on the French bloke any day.

Welcome back to running up and down very fast Baz, watch those twists and turns, and good luck.
