With all the transfers coming in there have been inevitable rumours considering who may be leaving, considering what we have always believed is still a fragile financial situation still at the club.

Five players in, four of them players upfront.

One loanee keeper Luke Daniels back with his parent club, poor old Matty Patterson banished to Forest Green (for a month), and the sacking off JJ, and that's that regarding exits from Roots Hall and savings off the wage packets.

As top scorer Liam Dickinson said only yesterday, two into seven (strikers) won't go!

So twitter sites such as Footy_First Football Talk and anything with #Southend in it have been quick to jump on whatever gets posted regarding a Shrimper linked with another team, especially young midfielder Kane Ferdinand, who can't even get in to the league leaders starting eleven at the moment!

Championship West Ham seemed to have taken a back seat at the moment as old favourites Ipswich Town have stepped up again, while Swindon Town is certainly a new one, however there seems to be a rogue Robins fan having a good time, even posing as midfielder Michael Timlin, brought to Essex from the County Ground permanently after being on loan since August.

The fake M_Timlin11 wrote at the weekend: 'How are my followers? did anyone spot me cheering on my STFC mates at the Rotheram match yesterday? good game ennit.'

is the correct one to follow!

Back to the Ferdy stuff and Echoman Chris Phillips Sunday was quick to, er, tweet, that the stories were just that: 'Had quite a few messages about Kane Ferdinand and Swindon. There's no truth in those rumours.'

However, Di Canio's mob have now lost only once in 21 games picking up another impressive 2-1 win at Rotherham Saturday, and that is leading to rumours of their own to deal with before they can worry about getting that new striker they want, Oxford United having turned down two approaches for top scorer James Constable.

According to www.swindon.vitalfootball.co.uk: 'Swindon Town interim chairman Jeremy Wray has moved to alleviate fears that Town could be set to lose two of their most influential players to Championships strugglers Ipswich Town. Rumours were rife over the weekend that Paul Jewell had tabled a bid for Matt Ritchie and Paul Caddis with Ronan Murray and cash coming the other way. Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio said Ritchie can forget leaving the club until at least the Summer. Wray told the Swindon Advertiser that the club had received no formal bids what so ever for any of Swindon`s players.'

So there you have it, everyone's suffering, it's that time of year, and new technology, for good or for bad, has just made sure you hear it a touch faster!
