Ipswich interest in Shrimpers continues?

Paul Jewell: Ipswich manager seeks to take the positives from success of rivals

Paul Jewell: Having a break in......Preston?

We have been we before of course, the Ipswich Town fansite www.twtd.co.uk has spotted the Tractor boys boss watching the Shrimpers before, the last time last season in the 4-0 hammering of Bradford City, the reason more likely that he used to manage the Bantams.

It still helped fuel more speculation, stand up www.skysports.com, that the Championship club, along with half a dozen others including Reading, were about to make a bid for midfielder Anthony Grant, who can't even get into the Southend first team regularly at the moment, and when he does he gets sent off and was suspended for the weekend cup tie against Preston North End.

More interesting was a possible interest in loanee keeper Luke Daniels, www.twtd.co.uk, who had such a good game on Saturday and has now picked up two S24 9 out of 10 marks in a row, I'm sure there will be few clubs knocking on West Brom's door now once our deal ends in January, Shrimpers included, though I think keeping him to the end of the season would be the best we could do.

Though with the Baggies goalkeeping coach keeping tabs on him I'm sure they would have seen enough to keep their present No. 3 on their own books at the Hawthoorns.

The truth of the matter? Even the website concerned with this story accepts, along with the obvious point that he could be looking at a Lilywhite, that with the second tier along with the Premiership taking the international weekend off Jewell was taking a game in while having a break himself at his home in Yorkshire.

But then again, he could have gone to Sheffield united's 3-0 win over Oxford!!!!!
