Dario still debating defeat: 'If either chances had gone in then it could have been different'

Gradi: Watched his side progress in JPT

Gradi: 'It was cruel on the players because we were in the game'

It must have hurt, but we had enough Gradi philosophy last season when the Railwaymen did the double over us so maybe the veteran Crewe manager, who we have plenty of respect for, should stop over analysing why his side lost and worry about stopping the rot of three successive defeats, there must be something wrong other than just Shrimpers good fortune!

Gradi told www.crewealex.net: "It was cruel on the players because we were in the game. We had come back well and created some good opportunities. Nick (Powell) hit the post and then AJ (Leitch-Smith) was penalised for fouling the goalkeeper when Shaun (Miller) scored. We didn't think it was a foul. If either of those chances had gone in then it could have been different."

Ahh, the old 'if only' speech, we've all been there.

Anyway, Dario continued: "It was a tight game and I don't think there is a overriding reason why we have been conceding some late goals recently. It isn't to do with us not being fit, losing concentration or fading in games. We are not far off and all the games have been tight and Saturday was no exception. The substitute who came on, stole half a yard on Toots and it was a good header from him. It could have hit the post and come out like our effort did in the first half but it didn't and that is the luck you need sometimes."

Indeed it is mate, but there might be some nervous travelling Alex fans at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday if leading 1-0 with a couple of minutes to go.

The players certainly want it to stop: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk
