Westwood: 'We're young lads and we're still learning'
Crewe Alexandra midfielder Ashley Westwood has been named the club skipper in their last two league matches, including their 3-1 loss to league leaders Southend United at the weekend, and he's getting a bit annoyed by their record of conceding late goals!
Should have been around when Spud Taylor was manager at Roots Hall, happened all the time for us back then, anyone at Notts County January 3rd, 1994?
Anyway, it seems that the Railwaymen also messed up from being in decent positions in their previous two games against Port Vale and Dagenham, the latter they let the opposition score in the fifth minute of stoppage time!
Westwood told BBC Radio Stoke: "Three minutes left and you concede two goals, it's ridiculous, the same week in, week out and we need to sort it. That's why we are where we are, we're young lads and we're still learning. We need the fans to stick by us because we've got a group of lads with unbelievable ability. Everyone needs to rally around together and I'm sure it will come right soon."
Westwood, at 21, is one of the most experienced members of 70-year-old manager Dario Gradi's squad!
