It's official: Eagles swoop in for Ex-Captain Adam

Championship side Crystal Palace have confirmed that former Shrimpers skipper, centre half, and all round top bloke, Adam Barrett, will become new manager George Burley's second signing.

Adam has put pen to paper to a two-year deal.

As we reported last week, this has Eagles assistant boss, and the ex-Southend striker, Dougie Freeman's finger prints all over it, as well as the South London club coach, former Shrimpers right-back and reserve team manager Dean Austin, and of course we wish Adam when it's confirmed.

And it may piss off Blues chairman Ron Martin or whoever wrote on the official site when news broke of Macca and Adam's decision to leave Roots Hall: 'The Club's management wishes them well in finding new employment on similar terms.'

Well lads, at least one of them may have even improved them.

Good luck Adam, hope you get a few more league games than little Darryl did at Selhurst Park, and not at left-back!
