Clarke: In spat with Di Canio

Clarke: 'I remain a Swindon FC player'

Former Shrimpers loanee striker joined Swindon Town on a two-year deal, but a pitchside row with Di Canio has led to his forced departure to League One Chesterfield on yet another loan deal.

Clarke has now apologised for the incident, but refuses to accept Di Canio's claims that he is "not very professional".

Clarke told www.skysports.com: "I would like to apologise to the fans, my team-mates, the chairman and board of directors at Swindon for the embarrassment this issue has caused. However, I believe the subsequent comments made by Mr Di Canio are not a true reflection. The personal comments made by Mr Di Canio about myself are denied. I remain a Swindon FC player and wish the club all the success in the forthcoming season, however, I am looking forward to proving myself as a Chesterfield FC player."
