Slade; from Sussex to East London in one season, going up the world

Russell Slade has been appointed as Leyton Orient's new manager until the end of the season.

The 49-year-old former Glovers and Seagull boss was at St.Mary's yesterday during the 2-1 Easter Monday loss to the Saints, and will take charge of his first game at Exeter this weekend.

Borient have sunk to fifth bottom of League One, with goal difference keeping them out of the dreaded drop zone following a terrible run of one win in 12 games.

Geraint Williams was sacked from the O's job after the 3-1 defeat to Hartlepool Easter Saturday.

Current Borient assistant manager Kevin Nugent and goalkeeping coach Kevin Dearden will work with Slade, the two being in temporary charge for one game only.
