No loan move to Pilgrims for Freddy from Sky Blues

Eastwood: Hamstring strain

Eastwood: Didn't fancy the Devon air

Former Shrimpers striker Freddy Eastwood has turned down the chance of joining League Two rivals Plymouth Argyle on loan!

The bottom of the table strugglers have just gone out of administration after being taken over by James Brent, and have given newly-appointed player-manager Carl Fletcher some dosh to build up his squad.

However, he could not persuade his former Wales team-mate to make the long commute to Devon, not too much of a surprise!

Freddy has been frozen out of Championship club Coventry City after being told by Andy Thorn to find a new club due to concerns over his fitness.

But the Pilgrims have had more luck with Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson and have extended his loan deal until the end of January.

The 18-year-old has made 13 appearances for the Pilgrims since arriving from Boro this summer.

The move to keep Gibson at Home Park was the first decision Carl Fletcher made after being handed the managerial position on a permanent basis.
