Moose hopes wide position won't affect Belgium call-up

Not the only good thing to come out of Belgium

The Moose has already represented Belgium at under 18 and 19 level and now also wants to follow Dervite into his own countries under 21 team.

Moussa told the Echo: "If I keep on playing well for Southend then hopefully that can happen. They see me more as a central midfielder so being out wide might not help me but they are aware of what I can do. Long term my aim is to move back into the middle which is my natural position but at the moment I'm just happy to be in the starting 11. We haven't really got anyone who can play wide left in our team so I've been doing a job for the team. I do feel more comfortable there now though, I'm more used to it and I think I'm doing more than just a job because my end product from that side has been improving."

Never out of the news lately Franck should have done more than enough to at least get into the squad. Not that I'm too up to date with the under-21 goings on at Anderlect, Bruges and other Belgian clubs.

Certainly it would have be a shame if the 'left wing' thing loses him a place.

Since Adam Barrett moved to left back again he has been far more disciplined in that position than in the past, especially away from home. Knowing he has no out and out wideboy al la Gower or HRK to cover his upfield runs, Captain Adam has kept his eye on the roving Moose, who cuts inside with his right foot at most opportunities, making sure we keep our defensive shape.

Along with Theo and Barny taking defenders wide the SUFC Exiles sponsored player has taken this opportunity to show the full range of his attacking skills, and now a couple of goals to boot.

As I said after Huddersfield, Southend's Gerrard as he plays for England, look how hard it is for Franck to get shaken off the ball this season. Now if only he could add a killer free-kick but not the Scouse accent!

Pats on back to Spud for anything he did while the Moose was out to pasture at Wycombe but he's back with us now and even playing out of his favourite position should not stop a first Belgium under-21 cap soon enough.
