The ground's in a field, top of left square!

How to get there

By Road

Travel along the A36 Southampton Road to the College Roundabout (Salisbury College is on the right hand side).

Turn right and follow the dual carriageway (Churchill Way) to the next roundabout (St Mark's).

Turn slightly to the left at this roundabout, as if going towards Wilton, Bath and Bristol, and you will go downhill towards the Castle Street roundabout.

Get into the right hand lane and take the A345 road (Castle Road) marked 'Amesbury'.

Carry straight on up this road, past Victoria Park and the shop on your left hand side and you will eventually see Hudson's Field and Old Sarum on your left.

Continue over and down the hill and you will come to a new, large roundabout (Park & Ride) at the 'Beehive'.

Turn right (large white sign has directions to football ground clearly marked on it). Carry on along this road, through the first small roundabout and into Partridge Way on your left.

There is a large car park at the ground, which did charge £2 per vehicle.

By Rail

Not recommended. Have to leave early or back early Saturday morning!

Salisbury station is located just over three months away from the stadium.

One for a taxi here unless you like a brisk walk, weather should be fine, there is a bus service Saturday but not sure if there will be one available on a Friday evening and a friendly.

Trains from London Waterloo 20 and 50 past the hour, around 1hr 30 mts.

Trains back 21.26 and 22.26 (change at Basingstoke), back around 23.00 and Midnight respectively.

Day return £30.60.

From central Southend stations, give yourself around four hours from station to ground, so nothing past 15.30.

Day return £41.90.

Get that last one and you will just get a tube but go to London Liverpool Street or Stratford, last train from Liverpool Street 00.50, Stratford 00.57.

There is no late services from Fenchurch Street this weekend.

Go to www.southwesttrains.co.uk for all services and ticket prices to book.

Pubs and Pies

There is a club house bar, which seeing as the stadium is in the middle of a field is helpful.

A Harvester can be found on the A435 as you come into town by car, or a couple of decent CAMRA recommended pubs near the rail station in Fisherton Street called the 'Deacons' and 'Kings Arms', bottom right on the map above.

Find yourselves in Bridge Street further along and there's the local Weatherspoons.

History

The club was founded as Salisbury F.C. in 1947. A previous Salisbury City Football club existed during the late 19th century, and played in the Southern League Second Division between 1906 and 1911, but the current club does not consider itself to be related.

The current club immediately entered the Western League and won the Second Division title at the very first attempt. An attendance of 8,902, a figure never beaten, saw the championship decider, a 1-1 draw against Weymouth. Salisbury remained members of the Western League until 1968, winning the championship in 1957-58 and 1960-61 as well as finishing second on four occasions and reaching the FA Cup first round on four occasions and the second round once.

In 1968 the club was elected to the Southern Football League but met with little success until the 1985-86 season when Salisbury finished as runners up to Cambridge City and were promoted to the Premier Division, albeit only for a single season.

In 1993 the club's name was officially changed to Salisbury City, and in 1994-95 they won the Southern League Southern Division championship. After redevelopment work at the council-owned Victoria Park, the club was able to step up to the Premier Division, a promotion which had been denied them two years earlier due to ground gradings.

In the Summer of 2009, Salisbury City Football Club faced bankruptcy and on the 3rd September 2009 Salisbury entered administration clearing debts of £200,000.

Whilst still functioning as a football team The Whites were fined and were punished further with the deduction of points. As of September, Salisbury City FC are being run by Carl Faulds and Michael Fortune operating as agents and contracting for Portland Business and Financial Solutions.

On 19 May 2010 the club was demoted to the Southern League Premier Division due to a breach of Conference rules. The club admits that it missed the deadline, but hopes to reach a CVA on 12 June, 5 weeks after the deadline, and decided to appeal against the decision in hope to maintain Conference National status.

On Thursday the 10th June 2010 it was announced Salisbury had lost their appeal and therefore would compete in the southern league premier division for the coming 2010/11 season, 2 divisions below conference national level.
