Hopefully extinct in the East Midlands around 5pm on December 6

With return fares holding up at over £44 those nice people at East Midland Trains, (www.eastmidlandstrains.co.uk), have done the decent thing and released fares that will get you from St. Pancras International to Leicester and back again for only £14 with plenty of time to have a bucks fizz in the longest champagne bar in Europe! (Of course those lucky to own various railcards can get as low as £10.55 return!)

Don't be a tight bastard, treat the missus, you can get the house rubbish for only £7.50 a glass

The trains leave London at 00, 25, 30 and 55 but the 05 and 25 are faster by around 15 mts. at 1hr. 9mts. For example the 11.25 gets in at 12.34.

Most of these at £7, the odd one at £9.

The train station in the city centre is walkable from the ground and should take you around 20-25 minutes so the 17.30 is on which gets back to London at 18.51 and still available at £7. Catch this and you could be back in Southend by half eight! (Full maps and information in Day Return, but take a look below and make sure you can do it in the time!)

If your worried about eight minutes of injury time and the old bill keeping us behind there's a 18.00, in at 19.08, for a couple of quid more at £9.

Plenty of other services on offer between £7 and £11.

Good Hunting!

(All fares available as of September 23, they will go eventually! Please check any connection times before booking.)

You can catch the 5.30, just make sure your fit, arrow to behind Filbert Park
