Lets face it, the last two players on trail for the seconds haven't actually shone, difficult when your in a team full of kids and getting hammered, five or six anyone?

However, midfielder Grant Kerr will give it a go at Roots Hall this afternoon, along with Anthony Grant, who will be tried out for a half, now that is good news with the Christophe suspension.

26-year-old Kerr has spent the last four years in the US with Fordham University.

Based in New York, he's been playing in the er, National Collegiate Athletic Association, (do they have a league?), and majoring in Business Administration.

Born in Linlithgow in Scotland, Grant has been an apprentice with Everton and has already had trails with League Two clubs Bradford City and Shewsbury Town this season.

Reserve team boss Ricky Duncan will have a few members of the first team squad; Osei Sankofa, Johnny Herd, Francis Laurent and Scott Spencer all start, while new back up keeper Kelvin Jack will make his Blues Two's debut.

Dougie Frredman is absent though, probably as he's going to be announced as the Crystal Palace assistant manager this afternoon.

Southend United: Jack, Sankofa, Dennis, Herd, Grant, Osifuwa, Laurent, Kerr, Spencer, Crawford, Okai.

Subs: Bentley, James-Lewis, Whittaker, Milner.
