The first Essex Reserve Derby of the season takes place north of the county this afternoon
Yannick Boli; He's back, after an 'OK' game last week
Graham Coughlan's Blues Two's take on Colchester United Tuesday afternoon in the Combination League at their Weston Home Community Stadium; kick-off 14.00.
And the main news, in what for once to take on the Farmers seconds is a strong starting eleven, is that there will be two trialists for another week, one being the speedy striker Yannick Boli, rumours of his Shrimpers demise may have been exaggerated.
Reserved team boss Couglan told www.echo-news.co.uk: “Yannick is an exciting talent and we will be having another look at him in today’s game. He did OK in the game we had last week and definitely impressed when he had the ball. We were concerned he might not be able to deal with the physical side of things but he was kicked from pillar to post against Stevenage and stood up to it. He should have scored more goals as he wasted some good chances and he may also need to improve on his work for the team. But overall he definitely deserved a second chance and we will be keeping a close eye on how he does.”
Meanwhile, ex-Plymouth Argyle centre-back Krisztian Timar was reported as training with the Blues but he's not been selected, in fact it's the same position but from another League Two club, Rotherham United, that will join the Frenchman in the team.
Former Millers centre-half Luke Ashworth was released by the South Yorkshire side in the summer and has seen time with the Borient, poor lad, and only 21 as well.
Southend United: Bentley, Furlonge, Ashworth, Coughlan, Prosser, Johnson, James-Lewis, Ferdinand, Sawyer, Boli, Sturrock.
