Paterson's Marks Out of Ten

Last updated : 05 October 2005 By Matt Donohue

Darryl Flahavan – 7

Did ok in-between the sticks although his kicking was not up to its normally high standards. He didn’t have a chance with the free kick, which was well taken, although the free kick should never have been given.

Lewis Hunt – 7

Another solid performance from Hunt, who made sure that the Yeovil wingers were not going to have a field day against him. He also did well going forward making some great overlaps down the right.

Andy Edwards – 8

I don’t think Iv seen Eagle play this well for a long time. Was solid in all areas of his game. Iv certainly never seen him put in so many crosses from over hit corners. Was magnificent at the back and is deservedly keeping his place.

Adam Barrett – 8

The Adam Barrett of old returned tonight, he was everywhere and did everything right, didn’t put a foot wrong at the back, Superb.

Che Wilson – 7

Combined with Cole down the left they kept Amankwaah quite, the utility man, won headers and got his tackles in

Mark Bentley – 7

Still isn’t a winger, but battled in the midfield and got forward well to try and break through the Yeovil defence. As usually Beno got his tackles in and he did well to track back and help Hunt, when the Shrimpers were on the back foot.

Kevin Maher – 7

Never really got hold of the game the two Yeovil centre midfields snuffed out anything going in Maher’s direction. Although he did eventually get going towards the end, but still wasn’t exactly brilliant.

Luke Guttridge – 8.5

Was brilliant tonight in the middle of the park. He scored the equalizer, ok it took a couple of deflections, but he deserved a goal for the build up play and it was a create strike.

Mitchell Cole – 7

Did well defensively tonight, and helped out Che Wilson a lot with keeping Amankwaah quiet. He also did well getting forward, although his crossing still needs to improve. The former Grays man showed a create piece of individual brillance when he early scored with a great hooked shot, which just went wide.

Wayne Gray – 9

Was once again different class tonight he ran the Yeovil defence round in circles and when Freddy came on they really were all at sea. He finished well from a pretty tight angle for his goal, and ran tirelessly throughout the game.

Shaun Goater – 8

Provided Gray with a great knock down header for Gray’s goal. Worked hard up front, and led the line well with Gray, looked tired when he went off but, we all would of after that work rate.

Subs

Jay Smith – 8

Looked like the old Jay Smith tonight when he came on. Distributed the ball well, and was the jay Smith we all know and love. Got his tackles in and kept the ball well.

Freddy Eastwood – 8.5

Was class when he came on, scored 2 goals in two minutes, and looked real class when he came on, work rate was brilliant, surely has forced himself into the starting eleven for Gillingham.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce – 7.5

The former Rotherham man showed glimpses of class whilst he was on the pitch. Had more legs than an octopus when doing the step overs. Looked very quick, looks like he could certainly do a job for us this season. Seems a very positive player
