First half goals from Blackburn loanee Aaron Doran, making his Dons debut, and Mark Carrington, proved too much for Southend at the stadium:mk and they go out of the JPT in the second round after receiving a bye in the first.

Big Steve Mildenhall was the hero for the Shrimpers, making several first class saves, starting in the 6th minute when he saved a 20-yarder from Jemal Johnson.

However, there was nothing he could do when Doran was given plenty of space to place the ball beyond him in the 18th minute.

Dons kept up the pressure throughout the half with the away side only having a Moussa shot that went wide to remember it by as the Franchise scored again on the stroke of half time.

Mark Carrington ran on to an excellent pass to smash the ball into the top of the net.

It was to be the same story in the second period which was minutes old when Mildenhall made another great save to give the Bucks side a corner from which Aaron Wilbraham hit the bar.

Big Steve followed this up by keeping out Dean Lewington's header and then three efforts from MK Dons Jemal Johnson, a 25-yarder and two shots from inside the box.

Somehow it stayed 2-0 and the Southend players were happy to hear the final whistle for the punishment to finally end.

Blues boss Steve Tilson has actually apologised to the Blues supporters present and you can read about that here:
