AND ANOTHER THING…
**Macclesfield Town retained their unwanted record of not having secured a single point at Roots Hall in six visits – Danny Whittaker’s fortunate effort was only the second time they have even managed a goal.
**This was Southend United’s first win in twelve attempts – just six off the club record of matches without a win.
**It was also the first time that Blues have scored more than one goal in a competitive game since the 2-2 with Northampton Town back on April 17th 2004.
**Adam Barrett was the first man to hit a brace for the Shrimpers since Leon Constantine bagged two goals on 16th March 2004 against Lincoln City at Sincil Bank. The score that day was 2-2.
**Barrett's double takes him to three League goals for Southend in just three starts - Drewe Broughton has only managed two in his fifteen-month Seasiders' career.
**It is believed that Kevin Maher’s suspension for picking up five yellow cards in a season is the fastest such time for a ban – just seven matches in total. Four of the offences, including today’s, were for dissent, and the only two clashes in which he avoided a booking were Friday night’s 2-1 defeat by Bristol Rovers and the 2-0 away loss to Rochdale.
