No new injury worries for United, who will be looking to grab three points for the first time at Adams Park to-night.
Good news that Damien Scannell, who was reported to be out for up to six weeks, has started light training with the team again and will aim to get a full game when the reserves return on September 8 at Norwich.
Back to to-night, Blues boss Steve Tilson told the official site: "The most encouraging thing for me is that we haven't been beaten yet and we want to keep the run going at Wycombe. We will need another good display if we are to get something tonight but we've already shown we're more than capable of doing that. Wycombe are a good team and they don't let in many goals. Their manager (Spud Taylor) is someone I know well and get on with and his team will make it hard for us. They often line up with a 4-5-1 formation and I think it will be quite tight."
Blues certainly had a poor first half against Walsall at the weekend and midfielder Alan McCormack looked particularly out of sorts.
He had an explanation for the Echo: "We all felt quite leggy at times against Walsall. The three games in a short space of time maybe caught up with us and we couldn't work as hard as we normally do. But because of that we're fresher for the game tonight and we're doing well right now so we want to keep going."
Not sure that makes sense Macca but whatever works for you and we really need to see a more energised Southend from the start to-night.
I certainly believe Sawyer should start, I would drop Grant but it would probably be Christophe due to the team formation, and place Freedman in Walker's place. M'Voto should also start and I would say for Captain Adam, but that ain't gonna happen so maybe Heath should take a rest.
The last word with the in-form and, more importantly, un-injured, Lee Barnard, also talking to the Echo: "We want to get the three points because it's been a good start and we want to build on that. It won't be easy though because Wycombe have lost both of their games so far and will be looking to bounce back against us."

Midfielder Matt Bloomfield will be out for a few weeks for the Bucks based side after picking up a broken nose and fractured cheekbone in an ariel collision with Peterborough's Charlie Lee in last week's Carling Cup clash which Wycombe lost 4-0.
Chairboys boss, and ex-Shrimper player and manager, Peter Taylor, believes his side have to replicate their first half performance in last weekend's game against Leeds to a chance against Southend and pick up their first points of the new campaign, the only League One side not to do so.
Spud told www.wycombewanderers.co.uk: "We'd love to get some points on the board but they (Blues) are a good team and we knew the start we had was a difficult one. We want to start getting some points as soon as possible and hopefully we can start as well as we did on Saturday."

A 61st minute goal from Luciano Becchio was enough for Leeds United to leave Adams Park with a 1-0 victory in their first meeting with the Wanderers.
Peter Taylor's side more than held their own in the opening 45 minutes but the visitors came out all guns blazing in the second period with Becchio's 20 yard effort the reward.
Wanderers went closest to equalising in the dying minutes, first through Stuart Green who saw a shot tipped onto the post in the 89th minute, while in stoppage time substitute (for Harry) Stuart Beavon fired wide from close range.

The club was founded in 1887 by a group of furniture-makers, and settled at Loakes Park in High Wycombe in 1895. From 1896 they played in the Southern League, but had little success in a league dominated by professional teams.
They moved to the Great Western Suburban League in 1908 and to the Spartan League after the First World War. After winning the Spartan League they joined the Isthmian League in 1921. Although they won the FA Amateur Cup in 1931 it would be 1956 before they won the first of eight Isthmian League titles.
Wycombe Wanderers famous navy and light-blue quartered kit is described as Oxford and Cambridge Blue in their early days, although the club had no connection with the Universities, the players being local working men. The two blues have also been attributed to the town colours of High Wycombe. Wycombe Wanderers have used variations of their famous quartered kit, but due to supporter pressure, have left their football strip largely unchanged since 1996-97.
The club's average league attendance was 5,109 in the 2008/09 season.

You gotta love 'em as Wycombe's main rivals are considered to be Colchester United. Whilst not a local rivalry, there is a history between the two clubs going back to the 1985/86 season, when Wycombe, then a non-league club, defeated Colchester 2-0 in an FA Cup tie marred by crowd trouble at Loakes Park.
Colchester and Wycombe were also involved in a two-horse race for the Conference title throughout the 1991/92 season, during which Colchester defeated Wycombe 2-1 at Adams Park with an injury-time wind-assisted winner from their goalkeeper, Scott Barrett.
Another controversial meeting was during the 1998/99 season. Relegation-threatened Wycombe were leading Colchester 2-1 at Adams Park until the ninth minute of stoppage time, when Colchester were awarded, and converted, an equalising penalty.
The 2008/09 season started well for Wycombe, with them embarking on an 18 match unbeaten run in the league, from the start of the season until December 6th when this was ended by Aldershot Town, who beat Wycombe 3-2. Wycombe's unbeaten home record in the league was ended by Grimsby Town, when the 'table toppers' were beaten 1-0.
On the last day of the season they managed to get promoted, even though they lost and the teams either side of them (before the last match was played) in the league table won. The 4th place team, Bury F.C. , had the same amounts of points as Wycombe but 1 less goal difference.
