This could be quite a game, and certainly good value!
Remember the last minute defeat last season and the certain actions of everyone's favourite ginge, now doing his bit in the north-east, that was all only nine months ago, yet in Shrimper time it could be a millenium with all that's gone on.
Not that Charlton have escaped some financial difficulty but all in all nothing like us and they stand a very healthy fifth in the third tier this season.
Of course they have a couple of ex-Shrimpers in the squad, more on that below, what about us, what team will Luggy pick!
Well, Matt Paterson got a brace against Barnet in the second round but really does seem to be persona non grata around Roots Hall along with all the Tilly boys bar Granty, and will Sturrock play him a yellow away from a suspension, he's made it clear the league is his priority.
What about the first sighting of the loanee strikers, even after Barry Corr's outburst about being sent to the subs bench for the cup tie at Macclesfield, in fact, I'd place them together.
It would certainly be good for the Roots Hall faithful to get a glimse of QPR's Antonio German, what nerve of the latter standing up and delivering a spor-kick scoring debut, but Oxford United's Jack Midson has already played in the competition.
Will Peter Gilbert start now his one match ban has finally been completed, though it took two matches, sadly the first one never finished!
Honestly, you never know with Luggs but I'll go back to the Barnet game on October 5th and start from there; let's hope Bilel doesn't see red this time, bar Addicks shirts of course.

Not a bad tie; the possible return of Alan McCormack, who does seem to be out injured at the moment, and player-of-the-year Simon Francis, but sadly not Nicky Bailey, who has buggered off to Middlesbrough.
While for season ticket holder Charlie Benson, the exciting chance of seeing his son Paul line-up against his beloved Shrimpers in a competitive match.
Not that ex-head Farmer Phil Parkinson will pick his strongest side, Francis was the only one of the trio that played in the Addicks 2-1 victory at MK Dons in the last round, but with only a possible three games to Wembley, both teams and their fans will want a win.
However, he will be able to pick Lee Martin after the midfielder, on-loan from Ipswich, was not allowed to play in the FA Cup first round goalless draw with Barnet
Pawel Abbott, Joe Anyinsah, Ross Worner, Miguel Llera, Jonathan Fortune, and Akpo Sodje are all squad members who would like the chance to shine at Roots Hall.

HISTORY

The club was founded on 9 June 1905, when a number of youth clubs in the South-East London area, including East Street Mission and Blundell Mission, combined to form Charlton Athletic Football Club.
The club is based at The Valley, where it has played since 1919, apart from one year in Catford, during 1923-24, and seven years at Crystal Palace and West Ham United between 1985 and 1992.
Charlton turned professional in 1920 and first entered the Football League in 1921. Since then, they have had four separate periods in the top flight of English football: between 1936 and 1957; 1986 and 1990; 1998 and 1999, and 2000 to 2007.
Historically, Charlton's most successful period was the 1930s, when the club's highest league finishes were recorded, including runners-up of the league in 1937, and after World War II, when the club reached the FA Cup final twice, winning in 1947. 
The Addicks were relegated from the Championship in 2008-09 and in their first season in League One reached the play-offs where they lost to Swindon in the semi-finals on penalties reducing the ginger one to tears, ahhh!
