Brady; a bloke & on the right, and Fossett's Farm; a link beyond the boardroom?

With Southend United's ever popular current chief executive Geoffrey King soon to be stepping down and focusing his considerable bulk to the property company Martin Dawn, one of the hundred odd companies in the name of Shrimpers supremo Ron Martin.

And the club have now confirmed the news from a couple of weeks ago that King is to be replaced at club by 42-year-old Tara Brady, who will also oversee the club's marketing department after the club's commercial director Ian Riddoch was made redundant.

Two jobs Brady, now that should please Sainsbury's.

Brady told www.southendunited.co.uk: "The Chairman Ron Martin is well known to me and I view this as a partnership to promote the Club's success through the new stadium project. Relegation last year was a blow to everyone but now we are only looking forward and I am highly motivated to help bring success to Southend United and the Town."

Fine words.

Meanwhile the Shrimpers supremo Ron Martin weighed in with: "These changes are part of a planned strategic move following a detailed review. Tara's appointment will bring renewed energy and focus whilst enabling Geoffrey to help me accelerate the club's move to the new stadium which holds the key to fulfilling Southend United's enormous potential to not only compete but also sustain a position at the highest level."

Even finer.

As for the appointment bringing nearer a brick being laid at Fossetts Farm?

We will go back a fortnight and what we posted then, and, to be honest, nothing has changed with the latest statements, it all depends if you believe Uncle Ron or not, or just plain hope for the sake of the club he gets it right this time around.

A source told www.echo-news.co.uk on November 26: "It's all close to being sorted out now. Tara knows Ron well and is looking forward to being more involved with the club."

Why are we not surprised!

Anyway, he's also on the books of the United new stadium management company, Soccer Stadiums PLC, of which Brady is a co-director and yes, there's Uncle Ron, with Roots Hall as it's registered address.

And the Company Secretary..........Geoff King!

Of course this does not mean this is a bad thing, as ever with Ron things are always more complex than they may seem on paper, and if it helps oil the wheels that will get Fossetts Farm, in whatever form we can now afford, start getting built, let's welcome Mr. Brady to the boardroom.
