Yet More Friday Night Football

Tesfaye 'The Cat' Bramble was the hero last time out on a Friday
In addition to the 2-1 victory over Boston United at the start of October, Blues also face Grimsby Town on Friday 26th November in 2004, and a third clash before the year is out has now been moved to the day before the weekend. Chester City had been due to visit Roots Hall on Saturday 18th December, just seven days before Christmas, but they will now have an extra day off for the festivities.

The Seals will now arrive in southeast Essex on Friday 17th December 2004 after a joint decision taken by the Shrimpers and the Cheshire outfit, who meet again in the northwest on the borders with Wales in early March. The game will be a 7:45 p.m. kick-off, but the move is unlikely to be supported by some fans, already upset at a lack of consultation over previous amendments to the fixture card.

However, for the mean time at least, they will be placated after the extraordinary events of the 8th October, the Seasiders recording a 2-1 victory over the Pilgrims in a classic battle, with Darryl Flahavan handed his marching orders for deliberate handball outside the penalty area, and Tesfaye Bramble performing heroics to maintain the hosts advantage. The switch also benefits readers of TLG – we will now provide full and unrivalled coverage of Southend’s Under-18 side as they tackle Wycombe Wanderers at the Molins Sports Ground in Princes Risborough.
