The exclusion of the Tractor Boys from the First Round leaves an odd number - 71 - Football League sides, and so to even up the numbers, Boston United, having finished top of the Conference, and Bristol Rovers, having finished one place off the bottom of Division Three, will contest a play-off, known as the prelimery round. The winners playing whoever they may be drawn against today.
Birmingham City's promotion to the Premiership means that United cannot be drawn against them - they knocked the Shrimpers out in the previous two seasons.
