Wivenhoe friendly postponed due to size of squad!

The club have announced that though the game will not take place on the original date it will be played at some stage.

It's also another comment on the present situation of the team as Blues assistant boss Paul Brush told the official site: "After due consideration with the size of the current squad we have agreed with Wivenhoe Town to put back our friendly. We will send a side down in the Autumn against them instead."

Many Shrimpers will be concerned that we've had to call off a game against a team from the Eastern Counties League Premier Division due to the number of players fit and reporting for duty.

However, Brushy continued: "Some players might have the option of playing more at Canvey Island next week than the 45 minutes we had planned. But we felt on reflection that four games in six days was too much too soon. We are very impressed with the attitude and team spirit in pre-season training so far and we will continue our gradual build-up to the start of the season."
