Fabregas on Watt: 'He is very quick and has good physical strength'

There's never been doubting the product of the Arsenal youth academy, arguably the best in the Premiership.

Now the Roots Hall faithful have a chance to see one of their successful scholars in Sanchez Watt wear the Blue of Southend for an initial period of a month, with a probable debut at Colchester in the Essex derby next Monday evening.

Football Fancast columnist Oli Major wrote: 'Watt was spotted playing for Senrab FC when 7 years old, a Sunday league club that have produced several Premier League stars, with the likes of John Terry, Jermaine Defoe and Sol Campbell all having played there. Watt is predominantly a winger, yet his quick an intelligent ability allows him to play upfront or drift inside - reminiscent of the great Thierry Henry'.

The blog on www.footballfancast.com continued: "The youngster has shown his potential through the Arsenal youth set up, having been instrumental in the under 18's double winning side of last season. Watt played in all eight of the youth cup fixtures, netting a brace in the semi-final, before scoring in both legs of the final; clearly a player who can step up on the big occasions."

As for his best position for the Shrimpers: "In addition to his obvious goal scoring threat, Watt's game boasts a range of attributes, all of which help him to be a quality attacking player. He is competitive in the air and strong, enabling him to be utilised in a target man role if needed, yet he is also quick and agile meaning that he can play on the shoulder of the last man. The ability to adapt between roles means that Watt is likely to cause problems for any defence he comes up against."

Sanchez joined an exclusive club when he scored on his full Arsenal debut, scoring in this season's third round Carling Cup win over West Brom which the Gunners won 2-0. Tapping in from close range after a Carlos Vela shot had been saved, he showed an ability to be in the right place at the right time, a good knack for a striker at any level.

The young Gunner has been capped for England at under 16 to 19 levels so hopefully will go on to be a full international.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has described Watt's game: "As having almost everything, claiming the youngster possesses left-foot quality, good movement and has a great work-rate."

The Gunners midfield star Cesc Fabregas said: "He has been doing very well - he's a brave boy who knows what he wants and is strong mentally. He is very quick and although he looks quite slight, he has good physical strength and can finish well. He is a great prospect for the future."
