The Welsh club could be given 365 days’ notice to move out of the Racecourse Ground by their property developer owners, and could be forced into administration, or worse still, out of the Football League. Chairman Alex Hamilton resigned, but as the owner could force them out at any time, and the 132-year professional history of the Red Dragons is at threat.

Currently the north Welsh outfit owe £900,000 to the Inland Revenue, and have to pay up by November 17th. A supporters’ trust have been formed, and they are quickly going about attempting to save the club.
Rob Griffiths, the Supporters Trust chairman, has commented, “Wrexham is a proud club and the ground is of international significance. We could not watch the club die or the ground be sold. We hope supporters will have a major part to play in the future”.

The “Save The Racecourse” campaign deserves everybody’s support, and the Red Dragons have been pleased to receive financial support from a number of clubs’ fans. You can sign a petition to help the Trust by writing to
Wrexham Supporters Trust, PO Box 2200, Wrexham, LL12 9WG or phoning 07981 151958 for more information. Or, you can email your support by writing to news@eveningleader.co.uk or fansbehindwrexham@hotmail.com.

However, if that seems a little bit too much for you, there is one particular area where Southend United supporters can really help. Saturday 20th November 2004 has been earmarked as ‘Wear Red For Wrexham Day’, where fans all across England and Wales are encouraged to wear red to show their support to Wrexham’s cause.

The Shrimpers have had red third shirts for each of the last three seasons, so there is no reason not to particpate in this event. We at TLG will be trying to encourage Yeovil Town supporters to do likewise, as well as bringing along a few red shirts of our own for Blues followers to wear at Huish Park. With our recent troubles in the last decade, it is important that we support other clubs in crisis, and this visual show is an event that is very, very easy to get into.

**Meanwhile, we at TLG apologise for the recent lack of updates to the site – the matter is in hand and we hope to resume a regular, if mainly evening-based, service from the start of next week. In the mean time we hope to bring you as much of a build-up to the Luton Town League Two clash as possible, as well as full coverage of the Under-18 side’s trip to Gillingham on Saturday.
