Kalala: 'We made mistakes for all four of their goals'

Shrimpers defensive midfielder Jean-Paul Kalala's stunning low volley was his first goal since December 2009, and it gave the Roots Hall crowd hope that a comeback against Swindon Town was on the cards.

Sadly that was not to be as the home side surrended second place in League Two to the visitors by losing 4-1.

Kalala told www.echo-news.co.uk: “Normally when you score a goal like that you go home happy but that certainly isn’t the case this time. The goal made it 2-1 and gave us a chance to get some momentum going but they scored straight again from set piece and that killed us. In fact we shot ourselves in the foot because we made mistakes for all four of their goals.”

History now, and it's all on to another former side for Blues boss Paul Sturrock and the 540-mile round trip to the Pilgrims of Plymouth at Home Park.

Kalala siad: “We need to go there and win on Saturday now. Losing to Swindon like we did was a huge blow and we all need to have a good look at ourselves and play much better against Plymouth in what is another hard game.”

The lads could certainly do with returning undefeated or serious questions are going to be asked that goings on behind the scenes are indeed affecting what's happening on the pitch!
