Following an idea by Darlington’s supporters’ club, the Trust have set up, in conjunction with BBC Essex, the chance for one lucky fan to be a co-commentator for the day for the radio station, who provide match commentary on all away Shrimpers fixtures and regular updates from Roots Hall when Southend are at home.

In two weeks time, Blues tackle struggling Oxford United, who may just be the second club that the Seasiders face having sacked their manager as Graham Rix looks down the barrel after yet another poor result this weekend. Rumours suggest that another loss next Saturday and he will be leaving the Kassam Stadium, and you could be commenting on his successor.

The Shrimpers Trust are auctioning off a place next to regular Shrimpers reporter Nick Alliker to provide the county with expert analysis on how the Seasiders are faring against the U’s in yet another vital League Two clash. All you have to do is send your name, day-time telephone number and, most importantly, your bid amount to trustauction@blueyonder.co.uk, and then track how much the spot is going for on the Shrimpers Trust website at www.shrimperstrust.co.uk.

The highest bid will be displayed daily on that site, and will also appear on the stand inside the Shrimpers Bar for the home matches with Northampton Town this weekend and again for the LDV Vans Trophy fixture against Shrewsbury Town three days later. The auction closes on Thursday 4th November 2004 at midday – so get bidding now!
