beginning of the end for the ex-Charlton striker as a Shrimper.
To say Walker's time at Roots Hall has been frustrating is an understatement.
We could all see he had the talent, his equaliser against the Orient last term, in the 6th minute of stoppage time, was one of the best goals of the season, along with a couple of other crackers in his poor total of 8 in 43 appearances for the Shrimpers.
However, he rarely seemed to show it, a continuious run of hamstring injuries not helping him.
Sadly, James is best remembered for 'that' miss up at Doncaster in the 2008 play-off semi-final, and one of the most embarrassing penalties ever seen at Roots Hall last season against Huddersfield.
It seems ironic that when there is plenty of talk of a 'cash crisis' at the Hall, Tilly was willing to pay 200k plus for Walker 20 months ago, which only got reduced, to around a 100k after a loan spell, when his original medical picked up an irregular heart rhythm.
Of course, S24 hopes he finds the net on a regular basis dropping down a division, and comes back to the Shrimpers raring to go and full of confidence.
I just wouldn't bet on it.
