Walker back, Scannell struggling

Could this be the season that Shrimpers see the best of 21-year-old forward James Walker?

After missing the final four months of last season with, what seemed, several hamstring injuries, he's back to full fitness and Blues boss Steve Tilson will demand more consistantly and not just short bursts of his obvious talent, al la that last minute equaliser at Orient.

Tilly told the Echo: "We've seen glimpses of what James can do and he certainly does have fantastic ability. He has a lot of pace and hopefully he can have a good season for us."

Walker will get a chance to strutt his stuff at either Great Wakering Rovers on Friday night or Witham Town on the Saturday.

Meanwhile, wide boy Damian Scannell, who did start to show what he had to offer once Tilly finally gave him the chance, may be struggling to make either game after injuring a knee while training.
