As for the dynamic duo of Dorian Dervite and Theo Robinson, well, while there's hope.
"It certainly isn't a definite no that we aren't going to be getting them."
However, after the problems of the last two seasons he knows that any new players must be brought in earlier rather than later so, for one, the team photo is on time this summer, but more importantly, he could see with his own eyes what a settled squad can do results wise.
He continued: "The end of the last season was very encouraging and does make you think what might have been. We are targeting particular positions and we'll then see what players become an available which is what we are doing. It is still very early days and there haven't been any bids from us yet but we would want to get players in quicker this year because continuity is very important."
