Tuesday 20th April 2004 – Nationwide League Division Three

York City 1 Yeovil Town 2

Yeovil Town: Steve Collis, Andy Lindegaard, Terry Skiverton (Hugo Rodrigues 64), Adam Lockwood, Colin Pluck, Kevin Gall, Paul Terry, Lee Johnson, Gavin Wlliams, Dani Rodrigues (Nick Crittenden 90), Jake Edwards (Kirk Jackson 45). Subs not used: Ryan Northmore, Nathan Talbot.

Goals: Paul Terry 46, Andy Lindegaard 70

The Glovers first visit to Bootham Crescent was a successful one as they ran out 2-1 winners. Dani Rodriguies made his first start for the club, and Gavin Williams returned to the side after suspension, whilst for the hosts, Chris Brass, the player-manager, recalled himself to the starting line-up for a vital fixture – their one game in hand over their relegation rivals.

Kevin Gall almost handed Town the lead just six minutes in, but despite beating Mark Ovendale in the Minstermen’s net, the ball struck the inside of the post and rebounded into the custodian’s arms. The reposte was fast, and accurate. Darren Dunning’s free-kick just two minutes later handed
York the lead as he curled the ball around the wall and into the top corner. Lee Nogan then wasted an opportunity to double the advantage as he blasted into the side-netting.

Ovendale saved from Andy Lindegaard and Jake Edwards before the break, but Town equalised immediately after the break. City defender Richard Cooper lay on the ground with a head injury, but referee Graham Laws allowed play to continue and Paul Terry lashed home. Wioth twenty minutes left the visitors took the lead, with Lindegaard converting Kevin Gall’s cross, and despite a frantic
York finish, Yeovil had the vital three points.

Saturday 17th April 2004 – Nationwide League Division Three

Yeovil Town 2 Bury 1

Yeovil Town: Steve Collis, Adam Lockwood, Terry Skiverton, Colin Pluck, Hugo Rodrigues (Andy Lindegaard 52), Lee Johnson, Nick Crittenden, Paul Terry, Adam Stansfield (Dani Rodrigues 49), Kevin Gall (Nathan Takbot 89), Jake Edwards. Subs not used: Ryan Northmore, Kirk Jackson.

Goals: Dani Rodrigues 55, 59

Substitute Dani Rodrigues handed the Glovers the points in a tough fixture with Bury at Huish Park. Dave Nugent had handed the Shakers the lead with a well-taken goal on 35 minutes, and in desperation for goals, Town chief Gary Johnson sent on the former Southampton striker just after half-time.

Rodrigues broke his leg twice playing for the Saints and Bristol Citry, but after a spell in
Greece, Johnson enticed him back to England. And how he repaid his faith. The front man first of all latched onto a Lee Johnson pass and then chested down before an astonishing overhead bicycle kick beat Glyn Garner.

And as if that was not enough, four minutes later he doubled his tally. Matthew Barrass attempted to clear a ball in the penalty area, and Rodrigues was in the right place at the right time as it struck him and rebounded into the net. The recent signing said, “It was a dream to come on and score twice. My first goal was one of those once-in-a-lifetime things”.

Monday 12th April 2004 – Nationwide League Division Three

Boston United 3 Yeovil Town 2

Yeovil Town: Steve Collis, Paul Terry, Terry Skiverton, Hugo Rodriguies, Adam Lockwood, Adam Stansfield, Darren Way (Nick Crittenden 15), Lee Johnson, Gavin Williams, Simon Weatherstone, Lee Matthews (Jake Edwards 75). Subs not used: Ryan Northmore, Steve Reed, Dani Rodrigues.

Goals: Ross Weatherstone 4, Adam Stansfield 55

Boston United’s revival continued as they looked to cement their place in the top half of the Third Division with a late win against the Glovers. However, it was not all plain sailing for the Pilgrims as one of their former players came back to haunt them just four minutes in; Ross Weatherstone smashing home from twenty yards after a short Kevin Gall pass.

Lee Johnson hacked a Graeme Jones effort off of the goalline, but the hosts were level a quarter-of-an-hour in when Kevan Hurst, on loan from Sheffield United, found space from a Lee Beevers throw and tucked hoem past Steve Collis. Concentrating on attacking on the break, Paul Bastock denied Yeovil’s Adam Stansfield’s drive just before the half-hour.

Collis then kept a Tom Bennett effort out, before
Boston took the lead just before the break. David Noble’s free-kick drifted in from the left touchline and defeated everybody to nestle into the net. That lead was shortlived again as, immediately after the interval, Stansfield collected a Gavin Williams pass and drove past Bastock.

But the excitement wasn’t over yet. Paul Ellender impeded Williams and a spot-kick was awarded. The same man took the penalty – twice including a re-take – but Bastock beat it away to retain parity. The shoptstopper then had to keep Stansfield out before Terry Skiverton nodded wide. But the Pilgrims grabbed a last-gasp winner when Lee Thompson latched onto a Jones pass and slotted underneath Collis.

Saturday 10th April 2004 – Nationwide League Division Three

Yeovil Town 0 Cheltenham Town 0

Yeovil Town: Steve Collis, Andy Lindegaard, Adam Lockwood (Steve Reed 27), Terry Skiverton, Colin Pluck (Hugo Rodrigues 39), Gavin Williams, Darren Way, Lee Johnson, Nick Crittenden, Kevin Gall, Jake Edwards (Lee Matthews 66). Subs not used: Ryan Northmore, Paul Terry.

Goals: none

West Country rivals Cheltenham Town picked up a share of the spoils in a dour Division Three encounter. The Glovers’ third successive draw saw them slip to ninth, a distamnce from the play-off positions. Adam Lockwood and Colin Pluck were hauled off before the break as Yeovil suffered injuries in the first period, whilst Lee Johnson and Darren Way were ineffective in the middle of the park.

Steve Collis had to be on hand to deny 19-year-old front man Tony Bird and Martin Devaney, the cultured midfielder for the Robins either side of half-time, but ina game where there were just eighteen scoring opportunities, there was little for either side to crow about.

Saturday 3rd April 2004 – Nationwide League Division Three

Torquay United 2 Yeovil Town 2

Yeovil Town: Steve Collis, Paul Terry, Terry Skiveton, Colin Pluck, Abdou El Kholti, Gavin Williams, Darren Way, Lee Johnson, Nick Crittenden (Kevin Gall 68), Lee Matthews, Jake Edwards (Adam Stansfield 78). Subs not used: Ryan Northmore, Nathan Talbot, Ross Weatherstone.

Goal: Darren Way 17, Jake Edwards 27

Sent Off: Gavin Williams 88

The Gulls came back from a two-goal deficit to deny Yeovil a win in another West Country derby match.
Darren Way put Town in front, tapping home after Abdou El Kholti’s original effort came back off of the woodwork. And the Glovers were two up then minutes later on 26 when Tony Bedeau surrended possession and Gavin Williams was allowed to set up Jake Edwards, who was subsequently taked with a simple finish.

Torquay boss Leroy Rosenior immeditaly threw on two of his substitutes – son Liam on loan from Fulham and Jo Kuffour, to reduce the arrears and captain Craig Taylor netted on the brink of half-time, firing low under the wall. Terry Skiverton was denied by the post before the real excitement occurred.

Twelve minutes into the second half, El Kholti was adjudged by Premiership referee Rob Styles to have hauled down David Graham. Steve Woods smashed home after Steve Collis had saved the actual kick. Martin Gritton also hit a post, whilst Graham connected only with the sidenetting. And Williams rounded off a frustrating day when he was sent off for a second yellow card.
