Tilly: 'We're changing things every week'

Blues boss Steve Tilson knows his team must find some consistancy to go on a serious run of results.

Injuries and suspensions in such a small squad doesn't help, but hard to understand peformances that can beat MK dons on Friday but lose to the bottom of the table club 4 days later.

Tilly spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "We've had enough of the game and the ball not to lose. Things just didn't go our way in front of goal and we just needed that bit of luck. it didn't drop our way even though we got some decent balls in the box, but things are hard for us right now because we're having to keep on changing things all the time."

One example of this is the debut of Wolves loanee full-back Scott Malone, signed a few hours before the game.

Tilly explained: "Scott's an 18-year-old lad who met the team for the first time at the pre-match meal. It's not ideal, but I thought he did well and the effort and commitment was there from the team. We played some decent stuff and I wasn't disappointed with the performance. We just need to try and get some consistancy in our team selection like we had a few years ago but right now it's all a little bitty and, especially in defence, we're changing things every week."

Parry: 'I felt we dominated the first half'

Tranmere caretaker boss Les Parry believed the 2-0 win over the Shrimpers was "our best performance of the season so far."

Perry told icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk: "I was actually disappointed for the lads that we only won by a couple of goals. I felt we dominated the first half and had a lot of chances in the second. Every single player pulled his weight and gave a 100%. The lads in the dressing room were quite quiet after the match because they were so tired. We've been saying for some time that we needed to match a good performance with a good result so tonight has given us a double whammy of confidence. Southend are a big powerful side and we knew if we did not match them for effort and energy they would roll us over. As it was we more than matched them in that department."
