Tilson: 'If we could bring players in then it would give the lads a lift'

Shrimpers manager Steve Tilson fielded a young side in the 2-0 defeat at Millwall Tuesday evening, their seventh in ten matches, with four players under 25.

With Skipper Adam Barrett accepting the side are now in a relegation fight as they slipped to just four points above fourth from bottom Oldham, who have two matches in hand, the club are doing alll they can to bring in fresh faces to add to such a small squad.

Tilly spoke to the Echo: "We're a very young side and I think we need some experience to come in and steady the ship. We need that all over the pitch so whether it's a centre-back, a wide-man or a striker we're looking to bring in more experienced players and hopefully we can before the weekend. It's hard and we haven't had any success with that just yet but we will keep on trying because I think if we could bring players in then it would give the lads a lift."
