Tilly: 'We'll miss Granty while he's out'

Blues boss Steve Tilson expects his side to forget the Birkenhead sides lowly poition snd concentrste on their own game.

Tilly spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "I watched Tranmere at Leyton Orient on Saturday and I thought they were very unlucky to lose. Tranmere were on top for long spells and, even though they are having a tough time, their players will really be digging in. We need to match that and have to go into the game with the right attitude because that will be crucial."

Tilly also commented on being without our new defensive man for all positions, the suspended Anthony Grant.

He continued: "It's a blow to be without Granty because he really has done a good job for us. This season he's played right-back, centre-back, left-back, right-wing and central midfield so it really is some going. He's done a great job wherever he has played though and we will miss him while he's out. It also leaves us short of numbers with only really one or two options on the bench but we will battle on and do the best we can with what we have."

Parry: 'We are not far away from finding a formula that will get consistant results.'

Tranmere caretaker boss Les Parry has selection problems of his own as he tries to improve on a season that has seen his team lose 13 times in 17 league one games.

Perry told icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk: "At the moment we don't have a lot of options. It's not just the number of injuries but the areas of the team were they are hitting us. We are not the tallest of teams and when Ian Goodison went off (after 28 minutes against Orient) the biggest impact was in the knock down effect of who marked who at set plays. Hopefully Ian will be okay to play against Southend and that will help us with the height. They are a big, strong, hard-working side and we would miss Ian Goodison if he did not play."

As for the 2-1 defeat in the East End last Saturday: "The lads were disappointed about Saturday because they knew they could have got something out of the game. It was the performance and not other factors, like refereeing decisions, that impacted on the result. I do believe we are not far away from finding a formula that will get some consistent results."
