Tilly: 'Could have won by a bigger margin'

Blues boss Steve Tilson is certainly taking every games as it comes, and who can blame him when he can't be sure how many players will be left standing when it comes to selection.

Tilly spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "It was a fantastic result for us and I thought we deserved the win. We played some good stuff at times and worked hard. There were a few scary moments at the death, but we still created our own chances and could have won by a bigger margin. Right now I'll take the three points and move on."

As for top scorer Lee Barnard: "Barney has now got 12 goals for the season and that's a fantastic return. With Barney, the important thing is staying fit and hopefully, the goals will keep coming."

Trollope: Keen to bounce back

Trollope: 'We knew Southend would start quickly'

Rovers boss Paul Trollope looked for reasons for his sides poor start in their second succesive away defeat.

Trollope talked to www.bristolrovers.co.uk: "We've come here after a two week break, so perhaps that's why we didn't start so well. However, the players have trained exceptionally well in that time, and we were prepared for the match. Unfortunately the start we produced wasn't good enough and, in the end, that cost us the game."

He went on: "We knew Southend would start quickly, but we made a lot of decisions with the ball. We improved as the first half went on and got on top towards the end of the half, but there seemed to be a switch flicked when we went two goals behind and the urgency and intensity came into our play. We started to pass the ball with a tempo and pulled a goal back, but missed chances to equalise when we felt that perhaps, we deserved a draw."
