Tilson: 'I'm disappointed to see Paul go'

Blues boss Steve Tilson first of all spoke about the team from Devon that his side need to beat to kick start any hopes of reaching the target he has set the team.

Tilly spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "Exeter is a decent team who will play five at the back so they will be hard to break down. They are down there with us and will be looking to get out of the bottom four as much as we are. There are 12 games to go and each one is a cup final and we have got to try and win six of those."

As for Webby joining as his new assistant manager in place of the departed Paul Brush, Tilly was diplomacy personified.

He concluded: "I'm disappointed to see Paul go as I have worked with him for seven years and he has become a good friend. But David Webb has come in to assist me now and I know what he is about after playing under him. He will bring a lot of experience with him but things are tough at the moment."

Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale

Tisdale: 'Under pressure you need a good swing to go back to'

Grecian boss Paul Tisdale has decided as the season gets down to the business end and points are desperately needed, you can forget the pretty stuff.

Tisdale told www.thisisexeter.co.uk: "Less fluid football, more structure is what we are probably going to go with for the remainder of the season. Last week the players did everything we asked of them and I think at this stage of the season you need to know what your structure is and the basics of your game."

You see it's, er, all to do with a round of golf.

The City manager explains: "It's like having a golf swing. When you get under pressure you need a good swing to go back to. We have our basic route to goal, basic passage of play and basic way of defending and we have to practice that over and over again and accept some of the frills and nice passages of play won't occur."

Anyway, as for Saturday's vital clash, he'd decided it's going to be tough at the bottom.

Tisdale concluded: "Southend will be a competitive side. I don't see it as being a pretty game, it is going to be blood and thunder and we are going to have to be on our mettle."
